Refund & Fee Policy.
GM Vault is an online marketplace, not a dealer or auctioneer. This policy explains what we charge, what is refundable, and how disputes are handled.
Listing fees
Sellers pay a non-refundable listing fee when their vehicle is approved and scheduled for auction. The listing fee covers editorial review, photo handling, and listing placement.
- Listing fees are charged at the time of scheduling and are non-refundable once the listing is published.
- If GM Vault cancels a listing prior to publication (for example, because the vehicle does not meet our editorial standards), the listing fee is refunded in full.
- Sellers who withdraw a listing before it goes live may request a refund within 7 days; refunds at our discretion.
Buyer's premium
Winning bidders pay a buyer's premium on top of the hammer price, as disclosed on the auction page and in the Bidder Agreement. The buyer's premium is GM Vault's fee for operating the auction and is due immediately upon winning.
- The buyer's premium is non-refundable once the auction has settled, except in the limited circumstances below.
- If the seller is unable or unwilling to deliver the vehicle as described, the buyer's premium is refunded in full.
- If GM Vault cancels a sale for fraud, misrepresentation, or violation of our rules, the buyer's premium is refunded.
Vehicle purchase price
The hammer price is paid directly to the seller, on terms agreed between buyer and seller. GM Vault is not a party to the sale and does not hold purchase funds in escrow unless expressly stated. All vehicles are sold as-is, where-is with no warranty of any kind — see the Vehicle Disclosure Statement.
When refunds are not available
- Buyer's remorse, financing falling through, or inability to arrange transport.
- Defects, condition issues, or undisclosed history that were discoverable through pre-bid inspection.
- Failure to read the listing, photos, comments, or seller responses prior to bidding.
- Disputes over post-sale conduct between buyer and seller (we may assist but are not obligated to refund our fees).
Chargebacks
Initiating a chargeback for a valid charge (listing fee or buyer's premium) is a violation of our Terms and the Bidder Agreement. We will contest invalid chargebacks with documentation of your activity on the platform, and accounts that initiate fraudulent chargebacks may be suspended or terminated and referred to collections.
How to request a refund
Email Info@gmvault.com with the listing URL, the charge in question, and a description of why you believe a refund is due. We aim to respond within 5 business days.
Changes
Fee amounts and structure are disclosed on the auction page, in the Auction Rules, and in the Seller Agreement at the time of each transaction. We may update fees prospectively; changes will not apply to listings or auctions already in progress.
